Peculiar skills

The modern economy differs from the past in that you don't have to be capable in a lot of different areas, but it's enough when you are narrowly specialized in your field of paid work (i.e. your job). Of course this is a gradual tendency - it started in the distant prehistory, when men were specialized on hunting and women on everything else. Only it's becoming more and more prevalent.
You may expect that I begin criticizing it, but no, I quite like it - first it improves the efficiency of work, cause if you're a specialist, you tend to be better at what you do. Additionally, you can specialize on what you like and let others do, what you don't like and they do.You can also specialize in other areas, but only as your hobbies - your survival doesn't depend on it and if you don't do it yourself, you can always pay someone else to do it. You do it mostly because you enjoy it.But there are some skills that people learn, even if they don't enjoy it and they could pay others to provide them the services.
Driving a car - you can go by public transport nearly everywhere. Other languages - there is a lot of people translating and interpreting. Cooking - you can go to restaurants or cafeterias.
Of course there are advantages of doing these things yourself, even if you don't enjoy it (if you enjoy it, then it's a hobby and I'm not talking about it). I was just thinking about it and it struck me as somewhat extraordinary in the today's world.
