For those, who don't know, Xubuntu is an operating system (something like Windows). It's based on Ubuntu, it just uses Xfce instead of Gnome or something like that.
The installing itself was easy, this distribution is quite straightforward. But the problem was with my connection to network. I have a network connector, for which the distributor didn't publish drivers for Linux. So I first tried ndiswrapper. Yet I didn't succeed with that. Then I found this article and I did that using those methods. All in all, installing took me three days (though I wasn't working on it continuously).
I consider using Xubuntu as my first operating system. Why?
- It's faster.
- It's cool.
- A lot of programs that one can't download freely have a Linux alternative (for free); also Windows programs can be emulated using Wine
- there are other advantages
