Federico

Before I go to the workcamp (some 300km north of Buenos Aires), I'm staying in BA for some four days. I'm going to see the city myself, but apart from that, the coordinators recommended us this volunteer organization as means to get to know the city better.
I get a young (though older than me) student Federico.
Till today, we've sent just a few mails to each other. But then I made myself a MSN account (in the South America, it seems most people use MSN as an instant messenger). We had a nice talk. He was very kind. On the other hand he seemed surprised that someone that young as me, go to workcamp like this. He himself studies Arts. Also he had been to Europe. He said, it had been very special to see all the cities he'd learned about in school. I told him we in Europe were rather ethnocentric and were learning rather about Europe itself, about the South America almost nothing...
What is perhaps noteworthy is that he offered me to help me to get to a villa miseria. He said it would be normally very dangerous, but that his sister (who used to teach there) may be able to convince some locals to go there with us. On one hand I feel a bit scared, on the other hand, I'd really like to see it.
