The first day in BA

I finally met Federico. He guided me to a few places in the town, though not too many, as BA is too huge. We also talked a lot.
Some remarks (from both the conversation and my senses):

  • Buenos Aires has a highway (not really a highway, but it's much broader than Czech highways) just in the center. And not  just a simple highway, but one with some 16 lanes...

  • There's a lot lot traffic. Cars are everywhere.

  • The city is very chaotic, which I like. I however don't like that I have problems with Spanish, so it takes me a few seconds, before I realize, what the people are talking about, so they look at me either angrily or as if I was a fool.

  • I went to a local "supermarket". Food is rather cheap, but it's full of additives. !Viva the food technology!

  • Federico was wondering, why Argentina was relatively so successful, when it was so disordered. I told him it was just because it was so disordered.

  • Federico was very surprised, when I told him most people in the Czech Republic were atheists.

  •  Building seem to be badly maintained, but it seems to me that it's not because people (at least most of them) couldn't afford to repair it, but rather they don't care how the building looks like from outside.

  • Casa Rosada is the seat of the president. There are two fences in front of it, and a LOT of policemen.
