It's ended :-(
I'm the first volunteer leaving, others will stay in average for a few more days.
What happened recently?
We went to a large cattle farm. Argentina is a big country and there's a lot of people having lot of land. He owns mostly cattle (though some sheep, goats, horses as well). He breeds cattle with low cholesterol levels to export them to health-obsessed European customers.
There's been recordly little rain recently. It hadn't had rained for two months. Fortunately, it began raining two days before my departure.
Our plaza was mas o menos finished. There is still lot of work to be done, but I believe local people can do that (and that they know they can do that).
The last day, there's been a large inauguration festival. There are about four of these festivals during the year (Children day, Mother day...), so there's been a great lot of people. Important people had important speeches, often about beginning to change the world etc. (not surprisingly, no volunteers was saying any of this nonsense). There was also someone from Partido Socialista, trying to abuse the whole plaza event, but to my great satisfaction, his speech was received considerably coldly compared to other speeches.
So when it was my turn, I had my speech (I used the time to actually say something, while most volunteers just presented themselves) - that this speaking makes me more special than I really am and that we should value every one person and everyone's special personality. Also that we should maybe rather concentrate on little things and not on "changing the world", because it's these little things that make the world...(stupid raving as well, I acknowledge it). Nevertheless, there was a great lot of people that told me that they really liked it.
I left yesterday. It was extraordinary, how emotional was saying goodbye. Taking in account I spent just fifteen days there. I exchanged e-mail adresses with a few people. I hope I meet some of them again (both international and local) one day.
I taught one local boy a Czech pronunciation and a few basic phrases.
I learned to make cement.
Next time I go to a workcamp, I have to take a friend with me; all will be a lot easier.
