Klara was examined in English from the maturita topic Art and culture. Yet another oral exam, nothing special.
But then there was a question about Klara's attitude to art in general. Klara said she didn't really enjoy most of it - maybe cinema sometimes, but that was all. Ms Dibova replied she didn't, neither.
Seems I'm not the only "barbarian" over there. I'd say art and culture, and what it usually comprises - it's mostly strange to me. I'm an extremely curious person, but this is one of scarce stuff that doesn't really excite me. Sometimes I may like the architectural style of a building, but I hadn't ever felt the awe described by others when confronted with e.g. gothic cathedrals. When in a big city, I have a look at the famous structures ("oh, how nice") and then go roaming in side streets, looking how people live more everyday life, what are their dwellings like and so...
Is it by my (our) degenerated sense of beauty, maybe? But I admire the beauty of nature and of a lot of stuff around me as well. I'm just ignorant to...to what? To some appeals to my "art receptors"? That I lack? Maybe that's it. Hope I can enjoy the life even without the noble delights, just sticking to the down-to-earth pleasures :-)
