KSMF 2008

Once again in a while, I set out from Prague - to Kromeriz, to KSMF, which is yet another SMF folks action.
I hitchhiked there and back as well - as usually, a plenty of experiences, including:
  • Getting into a car crash (I was the one sitting in a truck, so I barely noted it, till we stopped, but the guy in the apparently had his car badly damaged). A dialogue with the police followed - very funny, considering the truck driver spoke just Hungarian, while the policemen just Czech (both trying to employ some German words). Still, bribe (or it seemed to me so anyway..) sorted it out and we continued shortly after..
  • Riding with a police officer from a special police unit. While it seemed, he was working just too much and it's getting just too much on his mind, it was certainly interesting to listen to both his stories and his prospects (though rather grim from his perspective - it seems, the police work - and subsequently the overall level of safety in the society - was getting worse and worse every time.)
  • Both journeys were rather short (the journey back as quick as just 3.5 hours!), even accounting for troubles with hitchhiking in Brno, which is really unfriendly in terms of good spots where to stand (or, alternatively, I just can't find the right every time when I am there).
  • Some people say, you have an easier time hitchhiking with shorter hair and bright clothes - I haven't done a detailed analysis ;) , but it nonetheless seems when I have longer hair and darker clothes, no "normal" people stop, just those who stop for hitchhikers regularly.
In Kromeriz, in the first place I met a plenty of people I knew and hadn't seen for a long time. I like those people, even though I feel a little bit uneasy about the fact some of the people know each other just too well, so the group is usually too fragmented to my liking.
I enjoyed the stay, even in spite of the bad weather. Of the games, the worth-mentioning was playing a theater piece in the main city plaza for all the city (even though just few people - mostly orgs' relatives - came) and the game of taking photos of different things and places in Kromeriz (e.g. a Trabant lifted in the air, as many strange peopled doing various weird things as possible (no need to add you had to talk them into it before) and more..
I liked the city (one inscribed in the list of Unesco) itself; the famous gardens were just remarkable. Also, I liked the neatly cultivated gardens and picturesque houses - the city seems very clean overall.
