During the weekend, I participated on the game Vlajkova. (I wasn't able to find the rules in English, but Capture the Flag is quite similar).
There were six teams and about 80 players in total. It took place near a small village of Roudny, southwest of Prague, in a forest. The game should have started on Saturday at 10.00, ending 24 hours later.
I was lured there by a42 and I registered via Maf. I played in the red team. Of the people I knew there were Maf, Meldath, a42, Maf's sister, Sysel (Maf's cousin), Vosta and Skritek, Jana and Veverka (from Gybu, the latter two from 5B class) - and all of them had been to Vlajkova before.
Me, Maf, Meldath, Vosta and a42 had meeting at 19.00 on Friday. a42 took us by car (borrowed from his mother). He'd got the driving license just recently. Of us, Maf also has it, and me and Vosta are doing the driving school just now. It's interesting to see other people driving, now when I know how to drive as well (at least a bit).
We arrived there, we constructed the tent (Maf took a large tent for 6 people - it was reeaaally comfortable, when we slept there just in five :-)
Then we went to a pub in Lounovice (there is a pub in Roudny as well, but it had already been closed) - a somewhat bigger village. As I understand it, it's a custom to go to this pub on Friday evening before the game begins on Saturday. I sat to a table with mostly unknown people, so I got to know some people playing Vlajkova. I like meeting new people :-) Then we went to the tent to sleep.
Next day all was late (as is a custom as well, it seems). The referee read the rules and we finally started perhaps at 11.00. During the afternoon the weather was nice. I soonly recognized the game is quite exhausting. However, it was fun.
I even managed to frag one opponent (ok, a42 did 16, but after all, I'm new there and a lot smaller than a42). At 18.00, there was an hour-long break. Other people went mostly to the pub, but me and Meldath stayed in the tent. Meldath was tired and I had a kind of diarrhea. So we began to talk. We decided that during the night we'd be going together. So we did.
The night was scary. Always when we heard something, we hid into the nearest bush (to hide from the other teams). We were doing this for a few hours. So obviously, we talked a lot...
At 2.00 Meldath went to sleep. I was going through the forest with a42 for another two hours. Then I went to sleep as well.
At 11.00, there was the announcement of results. Our team came out second (not that I had much part in that). Then, Vojta took us to Prague again.
Overall the vlajkova was wonderful, even if absolutely exhausting.
