Preparatory weekend

This weekend I went to the Inex's preparatory weekend. I wanted to go to the first weekend in May, but it didn't happen. I had to go there as I go to a workcamp in a developing country.
I went there and back by car, because another participant took me (and other people as well).
I was the youngest one, the average age was something like 20 to 25 years. Some people were surprised I went to such a distant workcamp so early.
There were some lectures about development cooperation and so, but also better ones about experiences of former volunteers in exotic countries. However most of the current volunteers have already been somewhere far abroad and talking with them or just listening was very interesting.
There was a lot of interesting and experienced people - e.g. a lecturer who works in a help center for refugees (btw there is a refugees' concert on 29. 6.(pdf link), I consider going there) and when she sometimes is tired of this job, she goes to foreign countries to monitor elections. She talked about the recent elections in Palestine and it made me think. She said she had used to be a fervent supporter of Israel, yet she had changed her mind when she visited Palestine. Apparently, the situation is not simple.
Then we were also told some essential information about safety, customs and so on... We were also told about some episodes that had happened to former volunteers. Some of them quite scared me...
