Romance pro kridlovku

Frantisek Hrubin: Romance pro kridlovku (translated as Romance for Trumpet...???)
  • the first longer (emm...) fiction book I've read since a while
  • very brief - some 70 pages
  • a banal story (reportedly from Hrubin's own life; still, it could have been made more interesting)
  • still, it may be considered quite difficult to comprehend; was the story more complicated, it'd be even harder
  • poetry form, but in fact it misses the "typical" poetry character
  • interesting and somewhat playful language, though the author seems obsessed with death and blood...
  • not chronological; yet the feeling is weakened by the fact that before a new part, the current date is written
  • overall though it may be cryptic, if one reads thoroughly, there's little space for any speculation; it was even a bit frustrating to me
  • the story is from 1930s, but it wasn't written till 1961; there are visions of future decay (i.e. WW2, Hiroshima...) layered between the story line
