The maturita itself is no sooner than in May, but we had to apply for the exam subjects. There are four mandatory ones, additionally one may do the exam in one voluntary subject - it's not written anywhere and it's just "for fun". I was tempted to try it, but it's after all a part of the exam...and...
Literature is mandatory. It's officially called Czech language and literature, but everyone knows the language part is played down as much as possible. Though, I'll be trying to push some language topics in, as I may know something more about that (e.g. Indoeuropean languages) than about my not-very-favorite literature.
The second subject is a language - I may have chosen English or French (pity we haven't learned Spanish in school so that I could choose it, a little bit absurdly, I can speak Spanish much better than French); I can't speak French, thus the choice was clear.
The last ones for me are Math and Physics. I feel I haven't done any conscious decision, it just ended up like that (as with a lot of important decisions in my life). I just began to feel, it's probably "good" to do these subjects. After all I'm thinking about an university with a lot of Math, so it may not be that bad after all. We'll see.
Just people who don't know me very well think I'm crazy - maturita in Math and Physics is considered being something suspicious, it seems to me; but who cares, anyway?
