Excursion to a genetics lab

Mrs Eckschlagerova went with the "natural" part of our class to the genetics lab in the oncology department of the Motol hospital , where her husband worked.
First, her husband made a presentation for us, about what do they research, the modern methods of identifying cancers and also about the successes of the department. Indeed, the curves showing improvements in the number of surviving were remarkable.
Motol is also acquainted with the Second Medical faculty, so just by the way, we met the dean of the faculty - funny, he seemed like a pleasant person, but I would never guess he was a dean - didn't seem like the kind of a person to do a job like that; but that was just my brief impression.
Then we made a little walk around - there were freezers everywhere, to guard the specimens, and then of course a lot of those machines to extract and analyze DNA. The place may have been a lab, but the fact it was placed in a hospital building - everything was sterile, and all was too...hospital-like. Also, there were many unpleasant disinfection scents.
