Spring school of algebra

My department has organized (for the first time ever) the Spring school of algebra (we stayed there for almost a week). This was perhaps as a response to other departments, which has already been doing such things for a few (tens of) years.
We were accomodated in a pleasant hostel on the boundary of Cesky raj.
Our schedule was: in the morning and in the evening - lectures. In the afternoon (and the late evening) - free time. I used the afternoons to wander around, in the beautiful nature (though some parts have already seen too much human activity...); also, once I visited Jicin, the city tightly bound to my summers, when I had been a little kid.
Lectures were pretty interesting (for me at least, a lot of that was new) - topics included codes, boolean functions in cryptograghy, logic (complexity, models of arithmetic, finite model theory), elliptic curves (the high point of that was a gentle introduction to Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture), generating pseudo-random sequences.
One thing, which struck me - how efficient and funny can be lectures using slides (combining it with blackboard). Of course, it is pretty hard to lecture without misusing the slides (reading them, condensing too much information in them and so on and so on...), however, when it's done well, it's simply superior to the common lecturing using only blackboard.
